Seibu Electric & Machinery Co., Ltd, Fukuoka, Japan, is a long-established Wire EDM manufacturer, which has sold machines in the United States in the past, but with a somewhat low profile. Now KGKI, the Chicago-based importer of machine tools for more than forty years, has taken on the responsibility for Seibu sales and service in the U.S. You may remember KGKI as the most recent national importer and sales and service agent for Okuma-Howa turning and machining centers up until about two years ago, when the Okuma-Howa brand was absorbed by Okuma Machinery.
As mentioned, KGKI has long and extensive history as a successful sales and servicing agent of many brands, including Mitsubishi gear machinery and Nippei centerless grinding machines. And KGKI was the early importer of the Nakamura-Tome line of turning centers in the late 1970’s.
Currently, KGKI is in the process of bringing the important infrastructure pieces together in order to support Seibu sales and end user needs. But even though limited information is available on the KGKI website, Seibu model specs are already in Techspex.
Seibu offers three pitch accuracy levels from +/- 1 to 3 microns for models with envelope ranges from 8.7” x 21.7” x 23.5” up to 9.8” x 27.5” x 35.4”. Ultra models offer pitch accuracy of +/-1 micron.
