Haas Automation will display 18 machines at IMTS in booth S-8119 and seven other models in partner booths throughout the show.
The UMC-750SS is a new high-speed, 40-taper, 5-axis machining center with 30" x 20" x 20" travels, 1200 ipm rapids, and a high-speed dual-axis trunnion table. The machine is equipped with a 15,000-rpm inline direct-drive spindle, a high-speed 40+1 tool side-mount tool changer, and high-speed machining control software. The integrated roller-cam trunnion offers 150 deg/sec feedrates to quickly position parts to nearly any angle for 5-sided (3+2) machining, or provide full simultaneous 5-axis motion for contouring and complex machining.
The DM-1 is a new small-footprint, high-speed drill/mill center with a 40-taper spindle. The machine has a 20" x 16" x 15.5" work cube and a 26" x 15" T-slot table. The 40-taper inline direct-drive spindle turns to 15,000 rpm, and is powered by a 15 hp vector drive system that yields 46 ft-lb of cutting torque. A high-speed, 18+1 side-mount tool changer swaps tools quickly, and 2400 ipm rapids combine with high acceleration rates to shorten cycle times and reduce non-cutting time.
The new ST-55 is a heavy-duty, long-bed turning center with a 12.5" diameter through-bore, a 25.5" x 80" maximum cutting capacity, and a 34.5" swing over the front apron. A 55 hp vector dual-drive unit powers the ST-55’s spindle through a Haas-built two-speed gearbox to provide 4250 ft-lb of torque in low gear. High gear provides a maximum spindle speed of 1000 rpm. Both front and rear A1-20 spindle noses accept a variety of aftermarket large-diameter manual and pneumatic chucks.
The new Haas ST-15 is a small-footprint big-bore turning center with a 2.5" bar capacity. The machine provides a maximum cutting capacity of 14" x 14", with a swing of 16.25" over the cross slide. It is equipped with an 8.3" hydraulic 3-jaw chuck and a 12-station BOT turret. The ST-15’s A2-6 spindle nose has a 3.5" bore and 2.5" bar capacity. The machine’s 20 hp vector dual-drive spindle turns to 4000 rpm, and provides 150 ft-lb of torque.
The ST-25 is a compact big-bore turning center with a maximum capacity of 15" x 21" and a 31.75" swing over the front apron. The machine’s A2-6 spindle has a 3.0" bar capacity, and is equipped with a 10" hydraulic chuck. The spindle is powered by a 30 hp vector drive system, and turns to 3400 rpm. A 12-station bolt-on style turret is standard.
The Haas ST-35 is a mid-size big-bore turning center with maximum capacity of 21" x 26" and a 31.75" swing over the front apron. The machine’s A2-8 spindle has a 4.0" bar capacity, and is equipped with a 12" hydraulic chuck. The spindle is powered by a 40 hp vector drive system through a 2-speed gearbox, and turns to 2400 rpm. A 12-station bolt-on style turret is standard.
The popular TL-1 Toolroom Lathe has undergone a complete redesign for 2014, with a new enclosure and better overall performance. The machine has a maximum capacity of 16" x 30", with a 16" swing over the front apron. The A2-6 spindle nose has a 3" bore, and accepts either an 8" or 10" optional 3-jaw manual chuck. The spindle is powered by a 12 hp vector drive system, and now spins to 3000 rpm. Rapids have increased to 450 ipm on both X and Z axes. The enclosure is now standard on the TL-1, to better contain chips and coolant, and protect the operator.
