Mitsui Seiki has introduced the VGE60A, the industry’s first universal vertical thread grinding machine. As part length grows, so grow the benefits of switching workpiece orientation. Long, skinny parts will naturally sag in the middle from their own weight when held horizontally. Problem solved on a vertical grinder. Isolating the workpiece support from the spindle column is easier in a vertical machine and results in significant accuracy gains. Floor space is dramatically reduced. Coolant from a single point at the top of the part uses gravity to its advantage and eliminates multiple nozzles, tubing, and inefficiency.
