PROFILE

Kansas-Oklahoma Machine Tools, Inc. (KOMT) was started in 1962 by Arthur B. Berg and Max E. Hubbard, both of whom had been employed by White Star Machinery Company. The administrative offices were, and are now located in Wichita, Kansas and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Ronald W. Evans joined the firm in 1965 and M. William Farris joined in 1970. In 1982, Art Berg retired as president and in 1987 Max Hubbard stepped down as President to pursue other interests. Ron Evans is now Chairman of the Board and Bill Farris is President.

KOMT has facilities in Wichita consisting of a company owned building of approximately 5,000 square feet, staffed by outside sales engineers, office management, accounting and order processing personnel and service technicians.

The Tulsa office is housed in an approximately 10,000 square foot building, also company owned, and is staffed with outside sales engineers, office management, an applications engineer, and an order entry person.

The company established a Kansas City office in 1968 which serves the Kansas City metropolitan area and the western half of Missouri.

An Oklahoma City office was set up in early 1987 to provide better representation in the southwestern area of Oklahoma. A resident service technician is also located in this office.

KOMT has always been service oriented, and to strengthen that quality a service department was established in 1979. It is manned by well trained service technicians whose training continues as new innovations occur in the machine tool lines.

The KOMT sales engineers total over 130 years of experience in the machine tool business; most of those years active with KOMT. Eight KOMT sales engineers are Certified Machine Tool Sales Engineers (CMTSE). The CMTSE program was established by the American Machine Tool Distributors Association (AMTDA) in conjunction with the Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT) and National Tooling & Machining Association (NTMA) to provide a program to acknowledge the essential competence and knowledge that is required to perform effectively as a machine tool sales engineer.

KOMT came into business on the leading edge of the technology of numerically controlled machines. While it is still active in its work with standard machines, it continues today with innovative and more productive technologies to serve today's industries. The manufacturers KOMT represents are quality leaders in their fields.
