Makino J4M Agile Horizontal Machining Center
Makino Agile Machining Horizontal Machining Center Model J4M
  • The J4M takes technology to the next level by advancing the J-series, now with over 500 machines in operation worldwide.
  •
  • This 16,000 rpm spindle machine with axis travel of over 2,350 IPM and an acceleration of 1.2 g,  is primarily intended for the economic machining of aluminum parts including cylinder heads and crankcases for 4-cylinder motors, gearboxes and attaching parts. One of the specialties of this machine is the additional tool magazine for the use of the special tools in connection with the W axis in the table. It is thus possible to handle hydrostatically mounted boring bars for camshaft and crankshaft bearing seats with a length of up to 700 mm as well as 3D chucking mechanism gang arbor heads for the machining of bearing seats inside the machine. Additional (special) machines are no longer needed.
  •
  • An optimized machine structure is the basis for high productivity, machining accuracy and process capability.
  •
  • The machine can be easily integrated into different automation concepts due to its three axes in the tool and a 4th NC axis in the table.

The J4M horizontal machining center (HMC) from Makino is an ideal machine for high-volume part manufacturers seeking high-speed productivity, superb accuracy and outstanding reliability. The speedy J4M has a tool-to-tool time of 1.1 seconds, and a chip-to-chip time of 1.2 seconds.

With an innovative space and energy saving design, the J4M is the optimum technology for simple and cost-effective machining in flexible transfer lines. It measures only (2801 mm) in height, with a depth and width of (1500 x 4075 mm). Along with Makinos standard three-point leveling, this small footprint and compact design allows for easy mobility and reconfiguration.

J4M Features

Options for the J4M include a special, high-powered spindle, a 30- and a 45-tool ATC and a rack-type ATC design which will accommodate oversized and overweight tools. The machine also comes with an optional index table, an AB-axis tilting table, a U-axis and a W-axis for complex and flexible transfer line machining.
